Review My Current Medicare Plan In Las Vegas and Nevada

Your Medicare plan may have worked well this year, but that does not always mean it will be the best fit next year. Medicare Advantage plans, Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, and plan benefits can change from year to year. Your own health needs can also change - including your doctors, prescriptions, preferred pharmacy, travel patterns, and how often you use care.
A yearly Medicare plan review helps you compare your current coverage with what may be available for the new plan year. The goal is not to change plans every year. The goal is to make sure your current plan still matches your doctors, medications, costs, and benefits before you assume everything will remain the same.

Why Reviewing Your Medicare Plan Matters
  • Plan benefits may change each year. Benefits such as dental, vision, hearing, transportation, over-the-counter allowances, fitness benefits, and other supplemental benefits may be adjusted, reduced, expanded, or removed.
  • Prescription drug coverage can change. A medication that was affordable this year may move to a different tier, require prior authorization, have quantity limits, or be affected by pharmacy pricing changes.
  • Your doctors and facilities may change. Doctor networks, specialists, hospitals, and medical groups can change. It is important to confirm that the providers you want to use are still connected to your plan for the upcoming year.
  • Your costs may change. Premiums, copays, deductibles, maximum out-of-pocket limits, and prescription drug costs can all affect the total value of a plan.
  • Your health needs may change. New prescriptions, new diagnoses, upcoming procedures, travel plans, or the need for a different specialist can change what plan works best for you.
  • There may be other options in your area. Plans available in Las Vegas, Henderson, North Las Vegas, and throughout Southern Nevada may change from one year to the next.

When Should You Review Your Medicare Plan?
Most people should review their Medicare coverage at least once each year, especially during the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period. You may also want a review sooner if one of the following applies:
  • Your doctor or specialist is no longer in your plan network.
  • You started or stopped taking an important medication.
  • Your pharmacy changed, closed, or is no longer preferred.
  • You moved to a new ZIP code, county, or service area.
  • You received a plan notice about benefit, premium, network, or drug formulary changes.
  • You are unhappy with your plan service, referrals, costs, or access to care.
  • You qualify for a Special Enrollment Period because of a life change or coverage change.

A Review Does Not Always Mean Changing Plans
Sometimes the best decision is to stay exactly where you are. Other times, a review may uncover a plan option with lower prescription costs, different doctor access, or benefits that better match your needs. The value of the review is that you are making an informed decision instead of waiting until a cost or coverage issue happens later.

Why Should I Get a Plan Review FAQ's

How often should I review my Medicare plan?
It is a good idea to review your Medicare plan at least once a year because plan benefits, costs, provider networks, and prescription drug coverage may change. You may also want a review sooner if your medications, doctors, pharmacy, or health needs change.

Can my Medicare plan benefits change each year?
Yes. Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D plan details can change from one plan year to the next. Costs, benefits, covered drugs, provider networks, and pharmacy arrangements may be different for the upcoming year.

Should I review my Medicare plan if I like my current plan?
Yes. Liking your current plan is important, but it is still wise to confirm that your doctors, prescriptions, costs, and benefits will continue to work for you in the new year.

What should I bring to a Medicare plan review?
Bring your Medicare card, current plan card, list of prescriptions with dosage and frequency, preferred pharmacy, names of doctors and specialists, and any plan notices you received about changes.

Does a Medicare plan review mean I have to change plans?
No. A review may confirm that your current plan is still a good fit. The purpose is to help you understand your options and avoid surprises.
