Nye County Medicare Agent Page featuring  Amagosa Valley, Beatty and Tonopah

Medicare Agent Serving Nye County, Nevada

Understanding Medicare health plan options can feel more complicated when you live in a large, rural county. Provider access, pharmacies, prescription drug costs and available private Medicare health plans may differ from what is offered in Clark County or other parts of Nevada.

Personal Medicare health plan guidance for Nye County residents
David Karel, Nevada Licensed Insurance Agent License #210603, helps you compare plan options based on your doctors, prescriptions, budget and ZIP code.
The goal is to make Medicare easier to understand and help you review the available choices without the national call-center experience.

Why Medicare Planning in Nye County Requires a Local Review

Nye County covers a wide geographic area, and healthcare access may look different from one community to another. Some residents receive most of their routine care close to home. Others travel to Pahrump, Las Vegas or another community for specialists, hospital services, imaging, procedures or follow-up care.
That care pattern matters when reviewing Medicare coverage. Medicare Advantage plans serve approved geographic areas that are often defined by county.

Before enrolling or changing coverage, a Nye County Medicare review should consider:
• Your permanent residential address and ZIP code
• Your primary care doctor and specialists
• Hospitals, clinics and medical groups you use
• Every prescription, dosage and preferred pharmacy
• Whether you travel to Pahrump, Las Vegas or another area for care
• Your premium and out-of-pocket budget
• Whether you travel or live outside Nevada for part of the year

Medicare Health Plan Guidance for Nye County Communities

Medicare in Las Vegas serves Medicare-eligible Nevadans throughout Nye County, including Pahrump, Tonopah, Beatty, Amargosa Valley, Round Mountain and surrounding rural communities. Residents searching for a Medicare broker in Pahrump can visit the dedicated Pahrump broker page for information about local providers, pharmacies and access to Las Vegas healthcare services. For information about other Nevada communities, explore Medicare in Nevada by County.

Why Medicare Advantage in Nye County

Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurance companies that contract with Medicare. Plan availability, benefits, premiums, provider networks, referral rules, prior authorization requirements, drug coverage and out-of-pocket limits can change from one plan year to the next.
For a Nye County resident, reviewing the provider network is particularly important. A plan may be available where you live but may not include every local provider or every specialist you see outside the county. Before choosing a plan, verify the complete care path - including your primary care doctor, medical group, specialists, hospitals, urgent care locations and preferred pharmacies.
David can help you compare available Medicare Advantage plan options and organize the questions that should be answered before enrollment. The purpose is not to select a plan based only on extra benefits or a monthly premium. The plan should also fit the way you actually receive healthcare.

2026 Medicare.gov Results for Selected Nye County Zip Codes

There are listings in other Nye County Towns.
Medicare.gov’s 2026 Plan Compare results found Medicare Advantage plans available for residential ZIP codes in Tonopah, Beatty and Amargosa Valley.

Medicare.gov returned 33 Medicare Advantage plans for each of the following Nye County ZIP codes:
Tonopah: 89049,Beatty: 89003,Amargosa Valley: 89020 were the only Zip Codes checked; other Nye County addresses require seperate verification

Plan availability does not confirm convenient local provider access

Thirty of the plans displayed for each ZIP code included Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage.
Three were Medicare Advantage plans without prescription drug coverage.

Medicare Advantage Plans in Nye County, Nevada for 2026

Nye County residents have a substantial range of Medicare Advantage choices for 2026. Medicare.org reports 33 non-Special Needs Medicare Advantage plan options in the county: 14 HMO plans, 12 PPO plans, and 7 HMO-POS plans. Thirty of the 33 options have a $0 monthly plan premium, although members must generally continue paying the Medicare Part B premium and may have copayments, deductibles, coinsurance, and other out-of-pocket costs. The same source reports that 17 of the 33 non-SNP options - about 52% - have a Medicare star rating of four stars or higher. Medicare Advantage availability and benefits can change each year, and the plans available to a person depend on the home address and service area.
Residents of Pahrump, Beatty, Tonopah, Amargosa Valley, Round Mountain, and other Nye County communities should verify current availability using their ZIP code on Medicare.gov.

Alow premium is only one part of the decision. Provider networks, prescriptions, referrals, prior authorization, maximum out-of-pocket limits, and access to specialists can matter just as much.

HMO Medicare Advantage Plans in Nye County

For 2026, Medicare.org identifies 14 non-SNP HMO Medicare Advantage plans in Nye County. Thirteen have a $0 monthly plan premium, and the reported average HMO premium is $0.68 per month. The source reports approximately 5,532 Nye County enrollees across these HMO options and an average in-network maximum out-of-pocket limit of about $2,013.
An HMO generally uses a defined network of doctors, hospitals, and other providers. Except for emergency care, urgent care, and certain other circumstances, members usually need to receive covered services from network providers. Some plans may also require a primary care provider or referrals for specialist care. In Nye County, it is important to confirm whether a preferred primary care doctor, local medical group, hospital, pharmacy, and Las Vegas-area specialists participate in the specific plan - not simply whether they “accept Medicare.”

Ask how the plan works with Intermountain, P3, independent physicians, local facilities, and specialists who may be located in the Las Vegas Valley. Provider participation can differ by plan and can change.

PPO Medicare Advantage Plans in Nye County

Medicare.org reports 12 non-SNP PPO Medicare Advantage options in Nye County for 2026. Ten have a $0 monthly plan premium. The reported average PPO premium is $4.58 per month, with approximately 1,271 county enrollees and an average maximum out-of-pocket limit of about $6,062. Three of the PPO options do not include Part D prescription drug coverage.
A PPO has a provider network but generally allows members to use out-of-network providers for covered services, usually at a higher cost. PPO flexibility may be worth reviewing for Nye County residents who obtain specialty care in Las Vegas or outside their immediate community. However, “out of network” does not mean every provider must treat a member, and the out-of-network maximum and cost sharing may be higher. Confirm that a provider will see the member, that the service is covered, and what the member will pay.

Question?  Is the PPO’s broader access worth a potentially higher maximum out-of-pocket limit, or does an HMO network already include the doctors and facilities you expect to use?

HMO-POS Plans Add Limited Out-of-Network Flexibility

Nye County has 7 non-SNP HMO-POS Medicare Advantage options for 2026, according to Medicare.org. All seven are reported with a $0 monthly plan premium. Together, these plans have approximately 2,281 county enrollees, and the reported average maximum out-of-pocket limit is about $1,500.
An HMO-POS plan is an HMO with a point-of-service feature that may cover certain services outside the plan network. The out-of-network benefit is limited by the plan’s rules and may carry higher cost sharing. Members should not assume that an HMO-POS works like a PPO. Review which services qualify for the point-of-service benefit and whether authorization, referrals, or other requirements apply.

Special Needs Plans in Nye County

Special Needs Plans are Medicare Advantage plans designed for people who meet specific eligibility requirements. Medicare.gov explains that SNPs tailor benefits, provider choices, drug formularies, and care coordination to the population the plan serves. Medicare.org separately reports 18 SNP options in Nye County for 2026: 12 Dual Eligible Special Needs Plans and 6 Chronic Condition Special Needs Plans. About 1,841 people are reported enrolled across these Nye County SNP options.
Because Medicare.org reports standard Medicare Advantage plans and SNPs on separate pages, the 18 SNP options should not be described as part of the 33 non-SNP options. Eligibility, service area, provider network, prescriptions, Medicaid status, and qualifying health conditions must be verified for the individual.

D-SNP Plans for People Who Have Medicare and Medicaid

A Dual Eligible Special Needs Plan, or D-SNP, is designed for a person who qualifies for both Medicare and Medicaid. Medicare.org reports 12 D-SNP options in Nye County for 2026, including HMO, PPO, and HMO-POS network designs. The source reports approximately 919 D-SNP enrollees in the county, 7 plans with a $0 monthly plan premium, and no D-SNP option without prescription drug coverage.
A D-SNP may help coordinate Medicare and Medicaid benefits and may include additional support services. However, Medicaid eligibility level affects costs and benefits. Before enrollment, confirm the person’s Medicaid category, whether providers participate in the plan, how prescriptions are covered, and how the plan coordinates with Nevada Medicaid.

C-SNP Plans for Certain Chronic Conditions

A Chronic Condition Special Needs Plan, or C-SNP, serves people who have one or more severe or disabling chronic conditions covered by that plan. Medicare.org reports 6 C-SNP options in Nye County for 2026: 3 HMO plans and 3 HMO-POS plans. All six are reported with a $0 monthly plan premium. The source reports approximately 922 C-SNP enrollees and an average maximum out-of-pocket limit of about $3,800. C-SNP benefits and care coordination are built around qualifying conditions, but the conditions accepted can differ by plan. Enrollment generally requires verification that the applicant meets the plan’s eligibility rules. A person should compare the provider network, specialists, hospital access, drug formulary, prior
authorization requirements, and condition-specific benefits before enrolling.

For someone receiving treatment in Pahrump and from specialists in Las Vegas, confirm that the full care team and the facilities used for testing, treatment, and follow-up care are included in the plan’s network

Why Provider Networks Matter in Rural Nye County

Choosing a Medicare Advantage plan in Nye County can involve more than comparing premiums and extra
benefits. Many residents receive routine care in Pahrump or another local community but may travel to Las
Vegas for specialists, advanced imaging, outpatient procedures, or hospital services. A plan may list a
familiar insurance company name while using a provider network that does not include every desired
doctor or facility.
Before enrolling, verify each provider under the exact plan name and contract, including the primary care
provider, medical group, specialists, hospitals, urgent care locations, laboratories, imaging centers,
pharmacies, and any Las Vegas providers used regularly. Also review whether referrals or prior
authorization apply and whether the plan offers coverage for routine or non-emergency care outside Nye
County

Questions to Ask Before Choosing a Nye County Medicare Advantage Plan

  • Are my primary care doctor, medical group, specialists, and preferred hospitals in the exact plan network?
  • If I travel from Pahrump or another Nye County community to Las Vegas for care, how will the plan cover
  • those services?
  • Are my prescriptions on the formulary, and what restrictions or pharmacy rules apply?
  •  What are the inpatient hospital, outpatient surgery, specialist, ambulance, imaging, and emergency-room costs
  •  What is the annual maximum out-of-pocket limit, and is there a separate higher limit for out-of-network PPO care
  •  Does the plan require referrals or prior authorization for services I expect to use?
  •  If I am considering a D-SNP or C-SNP, do I meet the eligibility requirements and how will eligibility be verified
  •  Are the hospitals and facilities they expect to use are in-network
  •  Do I need referrals or prior authorization are required
  •  Do my  preferred pharmacy participates and offers preferred pricing
  • How urgently needed and emergency care are covered while traveling

Short Closing Section

Medicare Advantage plan availability in Nye County can change each year, and the lowest-premium option is not automatically the best match. A local plan review should consider the person’s address, doctors, medical groups, prescriptions, preferred pharmacies, expected healthcare use, travel for specialty care, and eligibility for any Special Needs Plan.
This is especially important for people living outside Pahrump. Before enrolling, residents should determine:
For rural Nye County residents, the question is not simply whether a Medicare Advantage plan is available. The more important question is whether the plan’s provider network and coverage rules are practical for the way the person receives healthcare.

David Karel, Nevada Licensed Insurance Agent License #210603, helps Medicare-eligible Nevadans compare Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, and Part D options available in their area.
For assistance reviewing Nye County plan choices, call 702.403.6348 (TTY: 711).

Medicare Supplement Insurance and Original Medicare

Some Nye County residents prefer Original Medicare combined with Medicare Supplement Insurance. A Medicare Supplement policy, also called Medigap, helps pay certain deductibles, copayments and coinsurance left by Original Medicare. It does not replace Original Medicare.
With Original Medicare, you can generally use healthcare providers throughout the United States who accept Medicare. This broader provider access may be important for residents who travel outside Nye County for care. Medicare Supplement policies are standardized by plan letter, but premiums, household discounts, underwriting practices and company service can vary.
A separate Medicare Part D prescription drug plan is generally needed because modern Medicare Supplement policies do not include outpatient prescription drug coverage.

Medicare Part D Prescription Drug Plans

Medicare Part D plans can differ in the prescriptions they cover, how medications are placed into cost-sharing tiers, which pharmacies are preferred and whether a deductible applies. Two people living in the same Nye County ZIP code may receive very different results because they take different medications or use different pharmacies.
Learn more about Medicare drug coverage (Part D) at Medicare.gov.
A useful Part D review should include every medication name, dosage, quantity and refill frequency. It should also compare the pharmacies that are practical for you to use. The lowest monthly premium is not necessarily the lowest total annual cost.

Turning 65 or Moving into Nye County

Your Medicare choices may need attention when you first become eligible, retire from employer coverage or move into Nye County from another service area. Moving can affect Medicare Advantage and Part D plan availability because those plans are tied to an approved service area and permanent residence.
Use Medicare.gov’s official guide to check when and how to sign up for Medicare.
If you are turning 65, it is helpful to begin learning about Medicare before your effective date. If you are delaying Medicare because you or your spouse has employer coverage, the size and type of employer coverage may affect how Medicare coordinates with that insurance. Do not cancel employer coverage until you understand your enrollment timing and available alternatives.
If you recently moved, review your current plan, new ZIP code, provider network and prescription coverage before making a change. Special Enrollment Period rules and deadlines depend on the specific circumstances.

Frequently Asked Questions About Medicare in Nye County

Can a Medicare agent help me compare plans available in Nye County?
Yes. A Nevada licensed insurance agent can help you review private Medicare health plan options available for your Nye County address. The comparison should include your providers, prescriptions, pharmacies, healthcare needs and budget.
Do Nye County residents have the same Medicare Advantage plans as Las Vegas residents?
Not necessarily. Private Medicare Advantage and Part D plan availability is based on an approved service area and your permanent residence. Nye County options may differ from Clark County options, even when a resident receives some healthcare in Las Vegas.
Can I use Las Vegas doctors if I live in Nye County?
That depends on your coverage. With Original Medicare, you can generally use providers who accept Medicare. With Medicare Advantage, confirm that each doctor, medical group and facility participates in the specific plan network and that any referral or prior authorization rules are satisfied.
What should I bring to a Medicare plan review?
Bring your Medicare card if you are already enrolled, a list of doctors and specialists, every prescription with dosage and frequency, preferred pharmacies, current coverage information and questions about your budget or travel needs.
Is there a charge to speak with David about Medicare health plan options?
There is no charge for a personal Medicare health plan review with David. If you enroll through an insurance agent, the insurance company may compensate the agent. Your premium is not increased because you use an agent.
Should I choose a plan based on extra benefits?
Extra benefits may be useful, but they should not be reviewed by themselves. Provider access, prescription coverage, plan rules, medical costs and annual out-of-pocket exposure should also be considered
What happens to my Medicare plan if I move from Las Vegas to Nye County?
A move outside your current plan service area may create a Special Enrollment Period. Review your new address, available plans, provider network and prescription coverage promptly because enrollment deadlines can apply.
Does Medicare Supplement Insurance include prescription drug coverage?
Modern Medicare Supplement policies do not include outpatient prescription drug coverage. People using Original Medicare and a Medicare Supplement policy generally consider a separate Part D prescription drug plan.
How often should I review my Medicare coverage?
Review your coverage at least annually when your plan sends its Annual Notice of Change. You should also review it when your doctors, medications, pharmacies, address, finances or healthcare needs change.
